MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

2. REMOVAL / INSTALLATION

3. ADJUSTMENT / TEST - CENTERING DEVICE
A. Tools and consumable materials
- Hydraulic jack
- Clamps
- Nose wheel zero setting travel jig 8110 TB20 00000
- Rudder travel jig 8651 TB10 00000
NOTE : The travel jigs are used only in Paragraph C.
B. Adjustment of centering device without travel jig (Figure 201)
1) Remove engine cowlings 121 and 131 - refer to 71-10-01.
2) Jack up the front section of the aircraft to allow nose wheel (1) steering.
3) Align the rudder pedals in neutral position. Make sure both stop bolts (5) are screwed by the same number of threads and the clearance (a stop bolt (5) in contact) is 0.032 in (0.8 mm). Modify if necessary.
4) With the rudder pedals in neutral position, check that nose wheel (1) and the rudder are in the aircraft centerline.
NOTE : The aircraft centerline is materialized by a rivets line on the rear fuselage.
5) If necessary, adjust R.H. interconnection rod (2) - refer to 20-00-11.
6) If the rudder still fails to reach the neutral position, remove tail cone 222 - refer to 53-20-04, and adjust the rudder input rod - refer to 20-00-11.
7) If necessary, actuate L.H. interconnection rod (4) to align the rudder pedals - refer to 20-00-11. NOTE : Comply with the 11.8 in (300 mm) dimension - refer to 27-20-01.
8) Check the rudder travel - refer to 27-20-00.
9) Lower the aircraft to ground and remove the jack.
10) Make sure all the tools and materials are removed and the work area is clean and free from debris.
11) If removed, install tail cone 222 - refer to 53-20-04.
12) Install engine cowlings 121 and 131 - refer to 71-10-01.
C. Adjustment of centering device with travel jig (Figure 201A)
1) Remove engine cowlings 121 and 131 - refer to 71-10-01.
Post-MOD. 151
2) Remove dorsal fin 225.

3) Jack up the front section of the aircraft to allow nose wheel (1) steering.
4) Remove the nose landing gear door - refer to 32-20-07.
CAUTION : EXERCISE SPECIAL CARE WHEN POSITIONING THE TOOL TO AVOID DAMAGING INSTALLED ANTENNAS AND THE SKINS.
5) Position travel jig 8651 TB10 00000.
NOTE : Position and attach the zero setting support in accordance with TB20 marking, with the centering plate in max. rear position.
6) Make sure both stop bolts (5) are screwed by the same number of threads and the clearance (a stop bolt (5) in contact) is 0.032 in (0.8 mm). Modify if necessary.
