BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER
MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
1. SERVICING
None
2. REMOVAL / INSTALLATION - BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER
A. Tools and consumable materials
- Loctite (TB 09-906)
- Red paint
- Blanking caps
- Drain receptacle
B. Removal of brake master cylinder (Figure 201)
NOTE : In order to avoid contamination of the hydraulic system, all elements and lines removed should be blanked off with blanking caps.
1) Release parking brake.
2) Remove bleed plug after placing a receptacle under the brake unit bleeder seat.
3) Protect the cabin floor.
4) To facilitate access to L.H. station, disconnect the brake control rod (7) on pedal (6) side, retain washer (8), discard cotter pin (9).
5) Tilt pedal forward.
6) Disconnect front pipe (14) from master cylinder (13).
7) Tilt L.H. instrument panel, after removing the securing screws and pressing on spring plate (4) which is accessible under front table (5).
8) Disconnect upper hose (1) from master cylinder.
9) While holding master cylinder (13) and support (10) assembly, remove attachment bolts (3), retain washers (2).
10) Disengage support and master cylinder assy, set it down on a bench to remove master cylinder.
11) While holding master cylinder, remove nut (11).
12) Disengage master cylinder from support, retain spacer (12).
13) On R.H. station (when equipped), remove lower nut (22) and disconnect hoses (20) and (21) to remove master cylinder.
14) Disassemble the master cylinder if necessary - refer to Paragraph D.
NOTE : Only the "JPX" master cylinders are removable.
C. Installation of brake master cylinder (Figures 201 and 202)
1) Assemble the master cylinder if necessary - refer to Paragraph E.
