SHOCK-ABSORBER
MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
NOTE : This procedure is applicable to L.H. and R.H. installations. Information specific to R.H. installation are given in square brackets.
1. SERVICING
None
2. REMOVAL / INSTALLATION - SHOCK-ABSORBER (Figure 201)
A. Tools and consumable materials
- Grease (TB 04-004A)
- Cleaning agent (TB 11-003)
- Clean lintfree cloths
B. Removal of the shock-absorber
1) Jack up the aircraft - refer to 07-10-00.
WARNING : ENSURE THAT THE SHOCK-ABSORBER IS DEFLATED (ZERO PRESSURE) BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH MAINTENANCE PRACTICES.
2) Press on the valve mechanism to deflate the shock-absorber.
3) Remove and retain circlip (5).
4) Remove and retain bolt (6).
5) Remove and discard cotter pin (8), remove nut (7) and washer (9).
6) Hold shock-absorber (2) and remove bolt (10).
7) Clear shock-absorber (2) from gimbal joint (3) and landing gear.
8) Place shock-absorber (2) on a work bench.
C. Installation of the shock-absorber
1) Inspect the parts for correct condition, replace if necessary.
2) Clean the parts with clean lintfree cloths and cleaning agent (TB 11-003).
3) Lubricate bolts (6) and (10) with grease (TB 04-004A).
4) Position shock-absorber (2) on the landing gear, the sliding section upwards.
5) Attach the sliding section of shock-absorber (2) with bolt (10), washer (9) and nut (7). Torque - refer to 20-00-01. Lock with a new cotter pin (8).
6) Attach shock-absorber (2) to gimbal joint (3) with bolt (6) and circlip (5).
7) Inflate the shock-absorber - refer to 12-14-02.
8) Lower the aircraft to ground and remove the jacks - refer to 07-10-00.
9) Make sure all the tools and materials are removed and the work area is clean and free from debris.
