MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
1. SERVICING
None
2. REMOVAL / INSTALLATION - MAIN WHEEL
CAUTION : BOTH WHEELS MUST IMPERATIVELY BE OF THE SAME PART NUMBER AND AMENDMENT.
A. Tools and consumable materials
- Cleaning agent (TB 11-002) or (TB 11-003)
- Penetrant inspection material (TB 05-905)
- Grease (TB 04-004A)
- Oil (TB 03-904)
- Red paint
- Puller, P / N TB30 95086000 + shim
- Torque wrench 0 - 265.5 lbf.in (0 - 30 N.m)
B. Removal of the main wheel (Figure 201) NOTE : Check the tires - refer to 12-14-01.
1) Jack up the aircraft - refer to 07-10-00.
2) Release parking brake.
3) Remove the 4 bolts (1) attaching counterplates (6) to brake unit (3). Remove counterplates and retain washers (2).
4) Remove cap (11), retain screws (13) and washers (12).
5) Thoroughly clean landing gear wheel axle (4) splines, nut (9) and nut retainer (10).
NOTE : Clean using a brush and cleaning agent (TB 11-003) or (TB 11-002) to prevent dust or foreign matter from jamming the axle splines during removal of the nut retainer.
WARNING : TIRES MUST BE DEFLATED BEFORE REMOVAL.
6) Deflate the tire.
7) Remove nut retainer (10) by pulling the two tabs and prying off using either 2 screwdrivers or puller P / N TB30 95086000 and shim.
CAUTION : DO NOT FORCE. IF THE NUT RETAINER DOES NOT SLIDE IN AXLE SPLINES, CLEANING IS NOT SUFFICIENT.
8) Remove wheel nut (9).
9) Remove wheel assembly and place it on work bench.
