MAIN LANDING GEAR
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. GENERAL
The main landing gear is a part of the system which insures the main support of the aircraft on the ground. Each trailing arm main landing gear consists of :
- the landing gear leg,
- the rocker beam and the axle,
- the shock-absorber,
- the brake unit,
- the wheel,
- the door.

3. DESCRIPTION (Figure 1)
A. Landing gear leg
It is articulated around two bearings attached on the wing structure. The front hinge bearing is attached to the main spar ; the rear hinge bearing is attached to the small spar. On its rear upper part, the leg comprises the shock-absorber attachment fitting; on its front part is situated the strut hinge fitting.
B. Rocker beam and axle
The rocker beam is articulated in its upper part on the gear leg. It ends up with an axle on which are attached
the brake unit and the main wheel. On its rear part, it also comprises the shock-absorber attachment fitting.
C. Shock-absorber
The oleopneumatic type shock-absorber is attached on its upper part to the landing gear leg, and on its
lower part to the rocker beam. It is made up of a fixed assembly and a sliding body, filled with hydraulic fluid,
