Adjustment / Test - Nose landing gear (Figure 501) 1) Position the aircraft (equipped with engine and propeller) on a flat ground. 2) Remove the engine cowlings - refer to 71-10-01. CAUTION : IF STOP BOLTS (3) QUALITY SEEMS TO BE QUESTIONABLE (DEFECTIVE POLYAMIDE COAT), INSTALL NEW STOP BOLTS, P / N TB20 42006100, AND REPLACE JAM NUTS (2), P / N Z00.N5305951300, AT THE SAME TIME. 3) Position nose wheel in the centerline, then install a temporary shim of about 0.004 to 0.010 in (0.1 to 0.25 mm) between both bolts and lever and bring both stop bolts (3) in contact with connecting lever (4). Tighten jam nuts (2) - refer to 20-00-01. 4) Jack up the aircraft - refer to 07-10-00. 5) Check landing gear control linkage and indicating system - refer to 32-30-00. 6) Lower the aircraft to ground and remove the jacks - refer to 07-10-00. 7) Install the engine cowlings - refer to 71-10-01. C. Test procedure - Shock-absorber (Figure 502) NOTE : Perform this test at room temperature 68°F ± 9° (20° C ± 5°). 1) Remove nose landing gear - refer to 32-20-00, Page 401 2) Place the landing gear on the AMSLER compression bench. CAUTION : NEVER COMPRESS UP TO THE MECHANICAL STOP. 3) Compress and expand shock-absorber slowly [approximately 0.4 in/minute (10 mm/minute)], check the isotherm of shock-absorber. 4) Make sure that the forces are within the tolerances of the table. 5) If the forces are not included within the tolerances of the table, service shock-absorber again - refer to 32-20-00, Page 301. 6) No leak or seepage should be observed at the charging valve, sliding cylinder and at restrictor attachment fittings to landing gear leg. 7) Install nose landing gear - refer to 32-20-00, Page 401.
