E. Brake master cylinders The brake master cylinders transmit the pressure exerted by the pilot on pedals to the brakes. F. Hydraulic system The hydraulic system has a reservoir intended to store the hydraulic fluid (TB 02-001) used to supply this system. 4. OPERATION A. Hydraulic parking brake operation Braking is ensured by a knob located on the lower section of the instrument panel strip and actuating a valve. The parking brake valve has two positions : Open / Closed. Its function consists in blocking brake system pressure between each master cylinder and its related piston when the aircraft is parked. When the camshaft lever is set to "Open", the hydraulic fluid flows from the two master cylinders to the two pistons. When the camshaft lever is set to "Closed", the brake fluid from master cylinders is blocked between the parking brake valve and the two pistons. To apply the parking brake, press the rudder pedals down and turn the parking brake control knob to the right. To release the parking brake, press the rudder pedals down and put the knob back to its vertical position (turn to the left). NOTE : Operating brake knob only does not cause the parking brake to operate. A red warning light located on alarm panel and controlled through a microswitch, comes on when the control lever is set to "Brakes Applied".
