INSPECTION OF THE NOSE LANDING GEAR MOUNT AND STRUTS (Figures 601 and 602) A. Tools and consumable materials - Surface plate - 6x magnifying glass - Cleaning agent (TB 11-003) - Clean lintfree cloths B. Procedure 1) Remove nose landing gear mount - refer to Page 401. 2) Clean landing gear mount (3) with clean lintfree cloths moistened with cleaning agent (TB 11-003). 3) Install landing gear mount (3) on a surface plate and make sure each plate (2) is parallel to the surface plate surface - max. gap allowed is 0.019 in (0.5 mm). 4) With landing gear mount (3) on the surface plate, make sure that, when three plates (2) rest on the surface plate, the fourth plate gap does not exceed 0.157 in (4 mm). 5) Check bores (1) : - theoretical dimension, dia. 0.3149 / 0.3228 in (8.0 / 8.2 mm), - max. wear dimension, dia. 0.3267 in (8.3 mm). 6) Check bores (4) of struts (5) and attachment lugs on mount : - theoretical dimension, dia. 0.3149 / 0.3172 in (8.0 / 8.058 mm), - max. wear dimension, dia. 0.3208 in (8.150 mm). 7) Visually check landing gear mount (3), rings (6) and bearings for : - scuffing, - corrosion, - cracks. 8) If you have a doubt about a crack, perform a penetrant inspection (refer to 20-00-14, Page 301) or a magnetic crack detection. 9) If a crack is found on a tube, contact the manufacturer. 10) Install nose landing gear mount - refer to Page 401.
