- Test tube - Vinyl hose - Pipette B. Draining of the shock-absorber (Figure 301) 1) Remove landing gear - refer to 32-20-00, Page 401. 2) Ensure that the temperature of workshop, landing gear leg (4) and sliding cylinder (5) is approximately 68° F (20° C). 3) Remove wheel - refer to 32-41-02. 4) Clean landing gear leg. 5) Clean charging valve (1) carefully. WARNING : ENSURE THAT THE SHOCK-ABSORBER IS DEFLATED (ZERO PRESSURE) BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH MAINTENANCE PRACTICES. 6) Deflate shock-absorber. 7) Remove and discard valve core. 8) Stand the absorber upright in a vice equipped with protections (interchangeable false jaws) with charging valve directed downwards. Tighten slightly. 9) By pressing slowly on the lower section, compress the sliding cylinder (5) downwards in order to drain the hydraulic fluid from the shock-absorber. Collect the fluid in a drain receptacle (2). C. Filling of the shock-absorber (Figure 301) 1) Stand the absorber upright in a vice equipped with protections, with charging valve (1) directed upwards. Tighten slightly. 2) Compress the sliding cylinder (5) and wedge in place. 3) Fill a graduated test tube (3) with hydraulic fluid [37.22 in3 (610 cm3)]. Connect it to the valve using a hose. 4) Slowly release sliding cylinder (5) in order to fill the shock-absorber completely with hydraulic fluid. 5) Wait for the total clearance of air bubbles inside the test tube. 6) Install a new valve core. 7) Inflate shock-absorber - refer to 12-14-02. 8) Ensure that the valve core is correctly sealed.
