- the "PULL/IDENT" switch
When this knob is in the OUT position, the identification code of the ground station sounds through A50 audio control box. To adjust the output level, rotate this knob. When the "PULL/IDENT" switch is in the IN position, the identification code is attenuated.
- the "OFF/PULL TEST" control switch sets the VHF communication and the VHF navigation components of the VHF NAV/COMM transceiver to ON.
A51 VHF NAV/COMM transceiver is electrically supplied by "BUS 1" bar via the master radio relay and protected by CB86 "COM NAV 1" circuit breaker.
A51 VHF NAV/COMM transceiver is mounted on the radio rack.

B. A59 VOR signal separator
A59 VOR signal separator provides the ability to operate dual NAV receivers from one VOR antenna. It consists of a rectangular box with two attachment tabs. It features 3 BNC connectors.
A59 VOR signal separator is mounted on the L.H. side of the radio rack.
C. A60 GS signal separator
A60 GS signal separator provides the ability to operate dual Glide Slope receivers from a single antenna. It consists of a rectangular box with two attachment tabs. It features 3 BNC connectors.
A60 GS signal separator is mounted on the R.H. side of the radio rack.
4. OPERATION (Figure 5)
A. VOR mode
The VHF NAV/COMM transceiver is tuned to the frequency in the "USE" portion of the "NAV" display.
The VOR signal is received by the VOR antenna and transmitted to the VHF NAV/COMM transceiver via A59 VOR signal separator. The VHF NAV/COMM transceiver amplifies and detects the VOR signal to produce a composite VOR signal.
A110 NAV converter of the EFIS system receives the composite VOR signal from the VHF NAV/COMM transceiver. A110 NAV converter changes this signal into ARINC 429 data and forwards these data to A104 symbol generator of the EFIS system for display purposes.
The VHF NAV/COMM transceiver processes the audio identification signal from the VOR ground station and sends it to A50 audio control box.
On the L.H. instrument panel, when the "NAV1-HOLD-NAV2" rotary switch is set to "NAV1", the frequency displayed in the "USE" portion of the NAV display of the VHF NAV/COMM transceiver tunes A72 DME interrogator.
A51 VHF NAV/COMM transceiver sends VOR data to the radio magnetic indicator, if installed.
B. ILS mode
When a LOC frequency is set on the VHF NAV/COMM transceiver, the GS receiver automatically tunes to the paired glideslope frequency. The LOC signal is received by the VOR antenna and transmitted to the VHF NAV/COMM transceiver via A59 VOR signal separator. The GS signal is received by the GS antenna and transmitted to the VHF NAV/COMM transceiver via A60 GS signal separator. The VHF NAV/COMM receiver amplifies and detects the LOC signal to produce a composite LOC signal.
