NAV 1 INSTALLATION
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. GENERAL
The VOR is a short- and middle-range radio-navigation aid. It allows the pilot to locate the position of his aircraft with regard to a half-line crossing the VOR station (radial) or also to know the particular radial crossing the aircraft position.
In ILS operation (landing aid), the system allows a continuous guidance in azimuth (LOC) and in elevation (GLIDE slope approach plane).
The optional system consists of the following elements :
- an A51 VHF NAV / COMM transceiver,
- an A59 VOR signal separator,
- an A60 GS signal separator,
- an E33 VOR / LOC antenna,
- an E34 GS antenna.
For the description of the communication portion of the VHF NAV / COMM transceiver, refer to 23-12-00. The system sends signals to :
- the A50 audio control box - refer to 23-11-00,
- the A110 NAV converter of the EFIS system - refer to 34-28-00,
- the optional Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) system - refer to 34-55-00,
- the optional Radio Magnetic Indication system - refer to 34-25-00.
The system is electrically supplied by "BUS 1" bar.
