M77 ADF indicator The ADF indicator displays the ground station bearing. The front panel of the indicator includes : - a moving compass card, - a single bar pointer indicating bearing information, - a HDG knob which enables compass card rotation. The indicator receives the bearing information directly from the ADF A55 receiver in sine and cosine DC voltage format. The indicator is mounted on the L.H. instrument panel. 4. OPERATION The ADF system operation consists of two modes of operation. In "ANT" (antenna) mode, A55 ADF receiver simply acts as an AM receiver using only the sense signal from E35 antenna. In "ADF" mode, A55 ADF receiver provides bearing information using the loop and sense signals from E35 antenna. A. "ANT" (antenna) mode The antenna mode is selected and annunciated when "ADF" pushbutton is in the out position. This mode is used for station identification. A55 ADF receiver processes the audio identification signal from the ADF ground station. The audio identification is then sent to A50 audio control panel. The "BFO" function makes it possible to more easily identify ADF stations using an interrupted carrier for identification. B.
