A78 COMM./VOR-ILS/GPS transceiver controls the relay coil. The relay is mounted onto the R.H. side of the radio rack (external side), aft of connecting plugs. 4. OPERATION (Figures 3 and 3A) The "RADIO MASTER" switch controls the energization of the whole radionavigation system. The "CDI" pushbutton on the front panel of the COMM./VOR-ILS/ GPS transceiver enables the selected information of the VOR/ILS or GPS navigation source to be directed towards the horizontal situation indicator (HSI). A "VLOC" or "GPS" message appears on the display above the "CDI" pushbutton to confirm the selection. "NAV1/GPS1" pushbutton of M6 advisory panel enables the selected information of VOR/ILS or GPS navigation source to be directed towards the horizontal situation indicator. The pushbutton indicator light relative to selection illuminates. At energization, the equipment automatically performs a test and displays a page about the validity of the NAV data base card. To exit this page press momentarily the "ENT" pushbutton. The equipment shifts into satellite acquisition phase and then is ready for operation. If the satellite coverage is marginal, the equipment uses the altitude coding supplied by the encoding altimeter of the aircraft. On the advisory panel, GPS function lights are directly controlled by the COMM./VOR-ILS/ GPS transceiver to inform or alert the pilot of a situation requiring his attention. The COMM.NOR-ILS/ GPS transceiver converts GPS navigation information into DC signals, to actuate the vertical pointer, the "TO/FR" indicator and the warning flag of the horizontal situation indicator (HSI). The COMM./VOR-ILS/ GPS transceiver connected to an equipment of the same type (GNS 430) of the GPS 2 enables, via a RS232 type link, flight plans to be transferred from station to station. The A82 flight computer of the autopilot receives the GPS navigation data. For the management of fuel pages, the COMM.NOR-ILS/ GPS transceiver exchanges, via a RS232 type link, data with the fuel flow system.
