1) Make sure that the main switch-breaker is open. 2) If a sealant bead is applied around the antenna, remove the sealant with a plastic scraper. 3) Hold ADF antenna (3) and remove the two screws (4). 4) Sufficiently clear ADF antenna (3) to reach connector (1). NOTE : Exercise care to avoid damaging lugs (6) ensuring ADF antenna bonding. 5) Disconnect connector (1). 6) Remove ADF antenna (3). 7) Blank off ADF antenna (3) connector. 8) If necessary, remove any sealant residues on ADF antenna and on the fuselage. C. Installation of ADF antenna 1) Make sure that the main switch-breaker is open. 2) Clean the portion of the fuselage in contact with the antenna with a cloth moistened with cleaning agent (TB 11-003). Wipe with a clean linffree cloth. 3) Check the condition of gasket (2) bonded on ADF antenna (3). Replace if necessary. 4) Remove the blanking cap. 5) Connect connector (1). 6) Position ADF antenna (3) on support (5). 7) Position and secure screws (4). 8) Apply a bead of sealant (TB 09-903) around ADF antenna. Smooth the bead. 9) Make sure all the tools and materials are removed and the work area is clean and free from debris. 10) Perform an operational test of the Automatic Direction Finder (ADF) - refer to 34-54-00. GENERAL (Figures 1, 1A and 1B) The DME is a short- and middle-range radio-navigation aid. It determines the slant-range distance by measuring the time required for the signal to reach the ground transmitter and return back to the aircraft. It also provides the aircraft ground speed and the time-to-station. The optional DME installation consists of : - an A72 DME interrogator, - an M72 DME indicator, - an E37 DME antenna. A desensitization line connects the optional transponder to the DME interrogator. The system sends an audio signal to A50 audio control box - refer to 23-11-00. The system receives data from NAV 1 installation and from NAV 2 installation. It also sends data to NAV 1 installation and to NAV 2 installation - refer to 34-51-00 and 34-52-00. The system is electrically supplied by "BUS 2" bar via the "DME" circuit breaker. 2.
