NAV 2 installation — A52 VHF NAV/COMM. transceiver

It is electrically supplied by the VHF NAV/COMM. transceiver. The indicator is mounted on the LH. or R.H. instrument panel. 4. OPERATION
The "RADIO MASTER" switch controls the energization of the whole radionavigation system.
A. VOR/LOC mode
The VHF NAV/COMM. transceiver is tuned to the frequency displayed in the active frequency window of the NAV display. The VOR/LOC signal is received by the antenna and transmitted to the VHF NAV/COMM. transceiver via the VOR signal separator. The transceiver detects and amplifies the signal to produce a composite VOR/LOC signal. The course deviation indicator receives this signal and converts it into DC signals to control the vertical pointer, the "TO/FR" flag and the paired warning flag.
The transceiver processes the audio identification signal from the VOR ground station and sends it to A50 audio control panel.
B. Glide Slope mode (option)
When a LOC frequency is selected on the VHF NAV/COMM. transceiver, the internal GS receiver automatically tunes to the paired Glide Slope frequency. The signal received by the GS antenna is then transmitted to the VHF NAV/COMM. transceiver via the GS signal separator. The transceiver detects and amplifies the signal to produce DC signals to actuate the horizontal poiaer and the warning flag paired with the course deviation indicator.

NAV 2 INSTALLATION
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. GENERAL (Figures 1 and 1A)
The VOR is a short- and middle-range radio-navigation aid. It allows the pilot to locate the position of his aircraft with regard to a half line crossing the VOR station (radial) or also to know the particular radial crossing the aircraft position.
In ILS operation (landing aid), the system allows a continuous guidance in azimuth (LOC) and in elevation (GLIDE).
The optional system consists of :
- a navigation receiver,
- a course deviation indicator (CDI).
The system uses the VOR / LOC antenna, the GS antenna (option), the VOR and GS (option) signal separators. All these elements are known at the NAV 1 installation - refer to 34-51-00.
