A desensitization line connects the transponder to the optional DME installation - refer to 34-55-00.
If the transponder is mounted into the radio rack, the blower of the radio air cooling system blows air through a duct to the rear of the transponder.
The transponder is electrically supplied by "BUS 1" and / or "BUS 2" bar(s) via the "XPDR" circuit breaker.

TRANSPONDER
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. GENERAL
The transponder is an integral part of the Air Traffic Control Radar Beacon System (ATCRBS). The transponder allows the operational air traffic service to identify the aircraft.
The system consists of :
- the A56 transponder,
- the E36 transponder antenna.
The transponder receives altitude information from the encoding altimeter - refer to 34-11-00.
It sends an altitude audio warning signal to A50 audio control box via a R88 attenuation resistor - refer
to 23-11-00.
The transponder receives and sends information to global positioning system (GNS-series GARMIN) - refer
to 34-57-00.
A desensitization line connects A56 transponder to the DME installation - refer to 34-55-00. The transponder is electrically supplied by "BUS 1" and/or "BUS 2" bars.
