NAV 2 INSTALLATION
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. GENERAL
The VOR is a short- and middle-range navigation aid. It enables the pilot to locate the position of his aircraft with regard to a half-line (radial) crossing the VOR station or also to determine the particular radial crossing the aircraft position.
In ILS operation (landing aid), the system allows a continuous guidance in azimuth (LOC) and in elevation (GLIDE slope approach plane).
The optional NAV 2 installation consists of :
- the A77 COMM./VOR-ILS/GPS transceiver GNS 430
- the M74 course deviation indicator GI 106A
The system uses the VOR/LOC antenna, the GS antenna and the VOR and GS signal separators. All these elements can be found in NAV 1 installation — refer to 34-51-00.
The NAV 2 installation transmits navigation information to radio magnetic indication system (Option RMI - KNI 582) - refer to 34-25-00.
