The compass card is partially slaved to the HSI, the heading indicated by the HSI and the heading indicated by the ADF indicator can be manually synchronized by rotating the "SYNC" knob. The synchronization of headings should be checked from time to time, or after steep bank turns. If there is a discrepancy between the reference heading and the heading indicated by the ADF indicator, use the "SYNC" knob to resynchronize. GENERAL (Figures 1, 1A and 1B) The Automatic Direction Finder (ADF) is a direction-finding device which allows to determine the direction of a radioelectric transmission. The optional ADF installation gives azimuth indications which allow to point a position and to do alignments. The ADF installation consists of : - an A55 ADF receiver, - an E35 ADF antenna, - an M77 ADF indicator. The ADF installation is connected to the optional audio control box - refer to 23-11-00.
