B. ILS mode
When a LOC frequency is selected on the COMM./VOR-ILS/GPS transceiver, the GS receiver automatically tunes to the paired Glide Slope frequency. The LOC and GS signals are received by the VOR and GS antenna and then transmitted to the COMM.NOR-ILS/GPS transceiver via A59 VOR signal separator (if installed) and A60 GS signal separator (if installed) respectively. COMM./VOR-ILS/GPS transceiver converts the LOC and GS signals into DC signals to actuate the vertical pointer, the horizontal pointer and the paired warning flags.

NAV 2 INSTALLATION
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. GENERAL (Figures 1 and 1A)
The VOR is a short- and middle-range navigation aid. It enables the pilot to locate the position of his aircraft with regard to a half line (radial) crossing the VOR station or also to determine the particular radial crossing the aircraft position.
In ILS operation (landing aid), the system allows a continuous guidance in azimuth (LOC) and in elevation (GLIDE slope approach plane).
The optional system consists of :
- an A52 VHF NAV / COMM transceiver,
- a M74 course deviation indicator.
The system uses the VOR / LOC antenna, the GS antenna (option), the VOR and GS (option) signal separators. All these elements can be found in NAV 1 installation - refer to 34-51-00.
For the description of communication function of A52 VHF NAV/COMM receiver - refer to 23-13-00. The system is connected with :
- the DME installation (option) - refer to 34-55-00,
- the audio control panel - refer to 23-11-00.
The system is electrically supplied by "BUS 3" bar.
