C. E34 GS antenna
The GS antenna consists of two radiants mounted horizontally on each side of the vertical stabilizer. It is designed for the reception of signals within a frequency range from 329 MHz to 335 MHz.
D. A59 VOR signal separator (option)
The signal separator is used to couple NAV 1 and NAV 2 installations with the VOR/LOC antenna. It consists of a rectangular box fitted with two attachment tabs and features 3 BNC connectors.
It is mounted on the L.H. side of the radio rack.
E. A60 GS signal separator (option)
The signal separator is used to couple NAV 1 and NAV 2 installations with the GS antenna.
It consists of a rectangular box fitted with two attachment tabs and features 3 BNC connectors. It is mounted on the R.H. side of the radio rack.

4. OPERATION (Figures 4 and 4A)
The "RADIO MASTER" switch controls the energization of the whole radionavigation system.
The "CDI" pushbutton on the front panel of the COMM.NOR-ILS/GPS transceiver enables the selected information of VOR/ILS or GPS navigation source to be directed towards the horizontal situation indicator (HSI). A "VLOC" or "GPS" message appears on the display above the "CDI" pushbutton to confirm the selection.
"NAV GPS1" pushbutton of advisory panel also enables the selected information of VOR/I LS or GPS navigation source to be directed towards the horizontal situation indicator. The pushbutton indicator light relative to the selection illuminates.
A. VOR mode
The COMM.NOR-ILS/GPS transceiver is tuned to the frequency displayed in the VOR/LOC window of the display. The VOR signal is received by the antenna and transmitted to the COMM./VOR-ILS/GPS transceiver via A59 VOR signal separator (if installed). The COMM.NOR-ILS/GPS transceiver converts the VOR signals into DC signals to control the vertical pointer, the "TO-FR" indicator and the NAV warning flag. The transceiver processes the audio identification signal from the VOR ground station and sends it to A50 audio control panel.
B. ILS mode
When a LOC frequency is selected on the COMM./VOR-ILS/GPS transceiver, the GS receiver automatically tunes to the paired Glide Slope frequency. The LOC and GS signals are received by the VOR and GS antenna and then transmitted to the COMM./VOR-ILS/GPS transceiver via A59 VOR signal separator (if installed) and A60 GS signal separator (if installed) respectively. COMM./VOR-ILS/GPS transceiver converts the LOC and GS signals into DC signals to actuate the vertical pointer, the horizontal pointer and the paired warning flags.
C. Coupling to the autopilot system (option)
The A82 flight computer of the autopilot receives the VOR, GPS navigation data or LOC and GS approach data.
D. Coupling to the Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) (option)
