pi) NOV 01 NAV 1 INSTALLATION DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION 1. GENERAL (Figures 1 and 1A) The VOR is a short- and middle-range radio-navigation aid. It allows the pilot to locate the position of his aircraft with regard to a half-line crossing the VOR station (radial) or also to know the particular radial crossing the aircraft position. In ILS operation (landing aid), the system allows a continuous guidance in azimuth (LOC) and in elevation (GLIDE slope approach plane). The optional system consists of the following elements : - a navigation receiver, - an optional VOR signal separator, - an optional GS signal separator, - a VOR / LOC antenna, - an optional GS antenna, - a course deviation indicator (CDI). The NAV 1 installation is connected with : - the audio control box - refer to 23-11-00, - the optional DME installation - refer to 34-55-00. The navigation receiver is a 200-channel VHF VOR / LOC receiver with a 40-channel glideslope receiver / converter option. The CDI can include an UP / DOWN glideslope needle with an associated warning flag. The system is electrically supplied by "BUS 1" bar via the "NAV1" circuit breaker. NOTE : For RUSSIAN and UKRAINIAN aircraft, the system is electrically supplied by "BUS 2" bar.
