INDEPENDENT POSITION DETERMINING DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION 1. GENERAL This section describes the systems which provide information to determine position. The systems are mainly independent of ground installations. The installation consists of the stormscope system. 2. DESCRIPTION A. Stormscope system - refer to 34-41-00 The stormscope system detects and localizes the electrical and magnetic fields emitted from lightning generated by thunderstorms. GENERAL (Figure 1) The stormscope is a system which allows localizing and visualizing storm electrical discharges. The system consists of : - an M60 indicator, - an A74 processor, - an E41 antenna. The processor is connected to : - the push-to-talk switches of the pilot's and R.H. front passenger's control wheels, - the pilot's and R.H. front passenger's microphone jacks. The stormscope is electrically supplied by "BUS 2" bar via the "STORM" circuit breaker. 2. LOCATION (Figure 2) COMPONENT QTY AREA ACCESS DOOR REFERENCE 3.
