Horizon (ADI 1) 1 251L or
251R / 34-20-00

3. DESCRIPTION
A. Horizon (ADI 1) The horizon allows :
- visualizing the aircraft attitude on a classic gyroscopic horizon,
- supplying attitude (roll or pitch and roll) reference signals to the flight computer.
The horizon has an electric detection system to detect :
- the aircraft pitch and roll, it supplies signals which are proportional to the aircraft longitudinal and transverse attitudes,
- or the aircraft roll, it supplies a signal which is proportional to the aircraft transverse attitude. These signals are used by the flight computer of the autopilot system.
The flight computer supplies the AC / DC currents necessary to operate the horizon.
The horizon is of the pneumatic type. It is supplied by the vacuum generating system.
4. OPERATION
The horizon is connected to the aircraft's vacuum source. The air, sucked into the horizon via a filter, rotates the gyro spinner.
When the autopilot system is energized, the flight computer provides the AC / DC supply currents to the horizon.
The horizon transmits signals concerning the aircraft's roll or pitch and roll attitudes to the flight computer.

ADI AND STANDBY HORIZON
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. GENERAL
The optional horizon is a piloting gyroscopic instrument supplying a permanent visual indication of the aircraft pitch and roll attitude with regard to the place vertical line.
The system is composed of an horizon gyro indicator (ADI 1).
The indicator is air-driven and uses the aircraft's vacuum system - refer to 37-11-00.

Horizon gyro indicator 1 251 L / 34-20-00

3. DESCRIPTION (Figure 2) A. Horizon gyro indicator
The indicator has a gyroscope housed into a metallic square case. The rear face of the unit has three ports used to supply air to the gyroscope.
The front face consists of :
- an aircraft symbol which can be moved using an adjustment knob (depending on version),
- a lubber line,
- a moving background.
The aircraft attitude is given by the horizon bar linked to the gyro and the adjustable aircraft symbol fixed on the case.
The angular value of the aircraft in roll attitude is indicated by the lubber line and the circular roll scale. The angular value of the aircraft in pitch attitude is indicated by the aircraft symbol and the horizon bar pitch scale.
