A74 processor does not take into account magnetic heading information of the aircraft.

A74 processor takes into account magnetic heading information of the aircraft. This information makes it possible, when the aircraft is turning, to automatically update the location of the electrical discharges already represented on the display.

"STORM" switch energizes the system that initializes internal self-test. When the self-test is complete the system is operational or displays an error message to show the detected anomaly.
The push-to-talk switches are routed to the processor through CR21 and CR22 diodes (the diodes are incorporated into the wiring and located close to the processor). The processor is inhibited during the whole transmission duration of any radio communication device equipping the aircraft.
B. "CELL" mode
In "CELL" mode, green crosses "+" appear on the multifunction display showing the concentration areas of electrical discharges detected in a 360-degree area around the aircraft or a 120-degree area ahead of the aircraft depending on the selection. "CELL" mode is selected with "MODE" pushbutton of the multifunction display. "RNG" pushbuttons are used to select the distance scale and "VIEW" pushbutton is used to select the 360-degree area around the aircraft or the 120-degree area ahead of the aircraft.
C. "STRIKE" mode
In "STRIKE" mode, green crosses "x" appear on the multifunction display showing the electrical discharges detected in real-time in a 360-degree area around the aircraft or a 120-degree area ahead of the aircraft depending on the selection. "STRIKE" mode is selected with "MODE" pushbutton of the multifunction display. "RNG" pushbuttons are used to select the distance scale and "VIEW" pushbutton is used to select the 360-degree area around the aircraft or the 120-degree area ahead of the aircraft.

The processor sends data to be displayed to the COMM.NOR-ILS/GPS A78 transceiver via a RS 232 link. On COMM.NOR-ILS/GPS A78 transceiver, R.H. concentric knobs allow selecting "Traffic/Weather" page in NAV chapter to display stormscope function.
"STORM" switch energizes the system that initializes internal self-test. "TEST" message appears on the screen R.H. upper corner during the self-test. "MENU" pushbutton on COMM.NOR-ILS/GPS A78 transceiver gives access to stormscope system controls via the menu page. The internal concentric knob and "ENT" pusbutton are respectively used to select and enable the control.
