NAV 1 INSTALLATION
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. GENERAL (Figure 1)
The VOR is a short- and middle-range radio-navigation aid. It allows the pilot to locate the position of his aircraft with regard to a half-line crossing the VOR station (radial) or also to know the particular radial crossing the aircraft position.
In LOC operation (landing aid), the system allows a continuous guidance in azimuth (LOC}. The optional system consists of the following elements :
- a VHF NAV / COMM transceiver,
- a course deviation indicator,
- a VOR / LOC antenna.
The system also uses :
- a "SPKR-PHONE" switch which allows the pilot to select audio signals either in the headsets only or simultaneously in the cabin loudspeaker and the headsets,
- a switch which allows the pilot to select application of the audio signals of the navigation systems (VOR, ADF or DME) to the loudspeaker and / or the headsets.
The system receives an audio signal from the optional ADF system - refer to 34-54-00, or from the optional DME system - refer to 34-55-00.
