NAVIGATION
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. GENERAL
This chapter describes the systems which provide information for navigation purposes. It includes :
- the flight environment data,
- the attitude and direction,
- the landing and taxiing aids (option),
- the independent position determining (option),
- the dependent position determining (option),
I - the flight management computing (option).
2. DESCRIPTION
A. Flight environment data - refer to 34-10-00
This installation senses the environmental conditions and uses the corresponding data for navigation. These data depend mainly on the static and dynamic information.
B. Attitude and direction systems - refer to 34-20-00 This installation uses the magnetic or gyroscopic forces. It also includes :
- the optional Electronic Flight Instrumentation System,
- the optional radio magnetic indication system.
C. Landing and taxiing aids - refer to 34-30-00 This section deals with the MARKER system which ensures the guiding during the approach.
D. Independent position determining systems - refer to 34-40-00 This section deals with the stormscope.
E. Dependent position determining systems - refer to 34-50-00 This section includes the "VOR", "DME", "ADF", transponder and "GPS" systems.
F. Flight management computing - refer to 34-60-00
This section deals with the systems which combine navigation data to compute or manage the aircraft geographical position.
