3. DESCRIPTION
A. A74 processor
A74 processor receives information about the electrical discharges detected by the antenna, determines their sources and ranges and elaborates the data necessary for presentation on the display.
The processor consists of a parallelepipedic rectangular unit designed to be rack-mounted. The front face of the processor features a handle to enable the component to be extracted from its rack. It also features LED indicators that are useful for system trouble-shooting.
A74 processor analyzes the information forwarded by E41 antenna. Applying sophisticated engineering algorithms, it simultaneously processes the information enclosed in the electrical field detected by the sense antenna and the information enclosed in the magnetic field detected by the loop antenna. A74 processor forwards the results for presentation on display system.
A74 processor is mounted on baggage compartment floor. It is protected by a cover.
It is electrically supplied by "BUS 2" bar and protected by CB 95 "STORM" circuit breaker.
B. E41 antenna
Antenna transmits the detected signals to the processor via a special cable (EMI/RFI protection).
Antenna is flat and has a low profile, it features two holes for attachment on the aircraft fuselage.
Antenna combines in the same item a loop antenna and a sense antenna as well as preamplification circuits.
Antenna is supplied by a symmetrical voltage ± 12 VDC provided by A74 processor. Antenna is mounted under the fuselage between C8 and C9 frames.
C. S133 "STORM" switch
The switch enables energization of A74 processor.
It is mounted on a panel on the front face of radio rack.
D. A90 26V/400Hz converter (option)
A90 converter generates AC 26V/400Hz voltage from DC 28V voltage. It supplies reference AC voltage to
synchro-transmitter of heading reference system and to all the systems that use the heading information.
The converter is electrically supplied by "BUS 3" bar and protected by "26V/400Hz CONY" fuse of the fuse panel.
The converter is mounted on the firewall, on the R.H. side in the cabin area.
4. OPERATION (Figure 2)
