A - Altitude reporter (option)

C. No. 1 / No. 2 altimeter
The altimeter indicates the aircraft altitude with respect to a reference pressure (ground, Mean Sea Level). The altimeter is a classic altimeter graduated in feet (- 1000 to + 20000 or + 35000). The indicating is ensured by three concentric pointers.
The barometric pressure setting knob allows setting the reference atmospheric pressure used for the setting of the altimeter. This pressure is indicated in inches of mercury and in millibars.
A resetting device is provided to make the altitude scale and the pressure scale coincide. A screw located near the barometric pressure setting knob allows unlocking the resetting device.
The operation principle of the altimeter is based on an aneroid diaphragm which expands and contracts as a function of the pressure variations transmitted by the aircraft static system.
D. Altitude reporter (option)
The altitude reporter converts pressure / altitude information into digitized altitude data. It sends altitude data to aircraft's transponder.
Several different models of altitude reporter equipment are available for installation in the aircraft. The altitude reporter is located on R.N. FWD table close to the firewall.
The altitude reporter is electrically supplied by "BUS 1" bar and protected by "ALT. ENCODER" fuse. The fuse is located in the fuse panel secured on the firewall (Frame CO).
E. Encoding altimeter (option)
The encoding altimeter indicates the altitude of the aircraft with respect to a reference pressure (ground, Mean Sea Level).
The encoding altimeter ensures the following functions :
- indication of the aircraft altitude (- 1000 to + 20000 or + 35000 feet),
- coding of altitude-related data used by the transponder.
The altitude is indicated by means of three pointers on a dial graduated in feet.
