3) Secure the instrument on the instrument panel. Connect the hoses and the electrical connectors. 4) Install the front cover (if installed) of the instrument panel. 5) Make sure all the tools and materials are removed and the work area is clean and free from debris. 6) Position and secure the instrument panel - refer to 31-10-01. 7) Perform an operational test of the instrument. HEADING REFERENCE SYSTEM DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION 1. GENERAL (Figure 1) The optional heading reference system provides the pilot with : - heading information, - information concerning the position of the aircraft with respect to the selected course. It is also a gyroscopic system slaved to the magnetic North by a flux valve. The system consists of : - the A70 slaved directional gyro, - the A71 flux valve, - the M70 slaving accessory, - the M73 HSI (Horizontal Situation Indicator). The HSI receives navigation data from NAV 1 installation - refer to 34-51-00. It may also receive navigation data from GPS system (option) - refer to 34-57-00. The HSI may transmit heading-related information to : - the optional radio magnetic indication system - refer to 34-25-00, - the optional stormscope system - refer to 34-41-00. The system sends data to : - the optional autopilot system - refer to 22-12-00, - the optional ADF indicator (with slaved compass card) - refer to 34-54-00. The system is electrically supplied by "BUS 2" bar. 2.
