5) Check the static system for leaks :
a) Make sure that static ports and bleed are not clogged, that lines are not crushed or bent, then plug the bleed.
b) Blank off one of the static ports with a cap or adhesive tape.
c) On the aircraft altimeter, adjust altimeter setting to 29.92 in.Hg (1013.24 mb) and record the altitude given by the altimeter.
d) Connect the test bench vacuum hose to the free static port.
e) Apply negative pressure until the aircraft altimeter displays 1000 ft (304.8 m) above the altitude recorded in step c).
f) Shut the supply valve of static hose and, for one minute, make sure that the altitude loss displayed on the altimeter does not exceed 100 ft (30.4 m).

g) Gradually decrease pressure to ambient atmospheric pressure.
h) Perform the same procedure on the other static port. 6) Check the dynamic system for leaks :
a) Make sure that pitot tube of L.H. wing is not clogged and that hose of dynamic system is not crushed or bent.
b) Connect the test bench pressure hose to pitot tube.
c) Apply pressure until the aircraft airspeed indicator displays a speed of 162 kt (300 km/h).
d) Shut the supply valve of dynamic hose and, for one minute, make sure that the speed loss displayed on the aircraft airspeed indicator does not exceed 3 kt (6 km/h).
e) If there are no leaks, gradually decrease pressure to ambient atmospheric pressure.
NOTE : To locate any leak (either in instruments or in system) simply disconnect the dynamic system from the airspeed indicator (access by tilting instrument panel) ; perform a test with test bench on the instrument then on the system. For the latter, seal up the pitot tube.
f) If the aircraft R.H. wing is fitted with a pitot tube, perform the same procedure than for the L.H. wing. In this case, the airspeed indicator located on the R.H. instrument panel is usually related to the R.H. wing pitot tube.

PITOT TUBE
REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
1. REMOVAL OF PITOT TUBE (Figure 401)
A. Tools and consumable materials
- Blanking caps and plugs
B. Procedure
1) Make sure that the main switch-breaker is open.
2) Install the warning sign prohibiting main switch-breaker operation.

DO NOT OPERATE

3) On PL2 central pedestal, make sure heating control switch-breaker of pitot tube (5) is open.
4) If necessary, remove the protection cover from the pitot tube.
5) Remove access door No. 515.
6) Disconnect electrical connector (1).
CAUTION : USING A SPANNER, HOLD TUBE (7) INTEGRAL WITH PITOT TUBE WHEN SCREWING OR UNSCREWING THE ATTACHMENT NUT OF THE DYNAMIC PRESSURE TUBE.
