The stormscope is an optional system which allows localizing and visualizing storm electrical discharges. The system consists of : - the M60 indicator, - the E41 antenna, - the S133 switch (if installed) The indicator is connected through CR21 and CR22 diodes to : - the push-to-talk switches of the pilot's and R.H. front passenger's control wheels, - the pilot's and R.H. front passenger's microphone jacks. The system is electrically supplied by "BUS 2" bar. 2. DESCRIPTION A. M60 indicator M60 indicator receives information about the electrical discharges detected by the antenna, determines their sources and ranges and displays the information. The front face of the unit features an LCD display and all the controls enabling the stormscope system to be operated. The indicator is electrically supplied by "BUS 2" bar via S133 switch and protected by "STORM" circuit breaker. The indicator is located on L.H. panel strip. B. E41 antenna E41 antenna is flat and has a low profile, it features two holes for attachment on the aircraft fuselage. E41 antenna combines in the same item a loop antenna an a sense antenna as well as preamplification circuits. E41 antenna is supplied by a symmetrical voltage ± 12 VDC provided by M60 indicator. E41 antenna is mounted under the fuselage between C8 and C9 frames. 4. OPERATION NOTE : For equipment operation and maintenance, refer to the supplier's Maintenance Manual. STORMSCOPE ADJUSTMENT/TEST 1. STORMSCOPE OPERATIONAL TEST A. Tools and consumable materials - Ground power unit B. Procedure 1) Make sure that the main switch-breaker is open. 2) Connect the ground power unit - refer to 24-40-00. 3) Close main switch-breaker. 4) Make sure "STORM." switch is set to "OFF".
