The heading reference system being in the free gyro mode "FREE", the pilot manually cancels the deviation indicated by the slaving accessory deviation pointer using the "CW - CCW" switch. GENERAL The purpose of the heading reference system is to provide the pilot with a visual display of aircraft heading. The system is composed of a directional gyro indicator.
