A65 EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. GENERAL
The emergency locator transmitter provides the means to locate the aircraft in case of emergency. The system consists of :
- the A65 emergency locator transmitter,
- the E50 antenna,
- the S130 "ELT" remote control switch,
- the CB 82 "ELT" circuit breaker.

3. DESCRIPTION A. A65 emergency locator transmitter
The A65 emergency locator transmitter consists of a transmitter and a battery. A telescopic antenna is attached to the emergency locator transmitter, it enables the use of the emergency locator transmitter outside the aircraft.
The front face includes :
- the "ON-OFF-AUTO" switch,
- the coaxial connector for connection to the aircraft antenna or to the telescopic antenna,
- the connector for connection to the aircraft wiring harness,
- the "G" RESET button.
The emergency locator transmitter is secured to the baggage compartment floor, on the R.H. side.

The antenna is secured to the the rear upper section of the fuselage, ahead of the vertical stabilizer. C. S130 "ELT" remote control switch
The S130 "ELT" remote control switch is secured to the upholstery panel of the L.H. instrument panel ; it can be set to "ON", "AUTO" or "OFF".
It is protected by CB 82 "ELT" circuit breaker.

4. OPERATION
The emergency locator transmitter is power-supplied by a battery. The emergency locator transmitter can be operated :
- manually, either by setting the "ON-OFF-AUTO" transmitter switch to "ON" or by setting the S130 "ELT" remote control switch to "ON" (the "ON-OFF-AUTO" transmitter switch being set to "AUTO"),
- automatically, in the event of an impact, when both switches are set to "AUTO".
Once triggered, the emergency locator transmitter transmits a modulated signal simultaneously on both emergency frequencies (121.5 MHz and 243 MHz).
When the "ON-OFF-AUTO" transmitter switch is set to "OFF", transmission can no longer take place.
The "OFF" position of the S130 "ELT" remote control switch must only be used in case of inadvertent energizing of the emergency locator transmitter.
