ELECTRIC PUMP
REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
WARNING : OBEY THE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS DESCRIBED IN 28-00-00.
1. REMOVAL OF THE ELECTRIC PUMP (Figure 401)
A. Tools and consumable materials
- Drain pan 0.5 US Gal (2 liters)
- Blanking caps
B. Procedure
WARNING : APPLY THE MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE OF THE FUEL SYSTEM — REFER TO 28-00-00.
1) Open main switch-breaker.
2) Set the fuel selector to "CLOSED" position.
3) Remove the engine cowlings - refer to 71-10-01.
4) Remove the attaching bolt of noise filter (22), retain the washer and remove noise filter (22).
5) Disconnect electrical connector (21).
6) Put a drain pan beneath filter (4).
7) Drain the fuel system in the fuselage - refer to 12-11-02.
8) Disconnect hose (19) from elbow union (1). Blank off.
9) Remove clamp (16) and disconnect air vent hose (8) from union (17). Blank off.
10) Disconnect tube (15) from union (14). Blank off.
11) Remove clamp (18).
12) Hold pump (20) and filter (4) assembly, remove bolts (7) and washers (6) and disengage pump (20) and filter (4) assembly.
13) If necessary, separate filter (4) from pump (20) and retain gasket (9), nut (12) and elbow union (13). Discard 0-ring (10).
14) If necessary, remove union (17) and elbow union (1). Retain nut (2) and discard 0-ring (3).
15) If necessary, remove union (14) and retain gasket (11).
NOTE : If the bracket is removed, mark its position on the firewall - refer to Detail B.
16) Clean the fuel filter - refer to 28-20-02.
17) Check the tubes and hoses for condition. Replace them if necessary.
18) Check gaskets (9) and (11) for condition. Replace them if necessary.

2. INSTALLATION OF THE ELECTRIC PUMP (Figure 401)
A. Tools and consumable materials
- Grease (TB 04-903)
- Loctite (TB 09-906)
- Stainless steel lockwire, dia. 0.025 in (0.6 mm)
- Red paint
B. Procedure
WARNING : APPLY THE MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE OF THE FUEL SYSTEM — REFER TO 28-00-00.
CAUTION : AT FIRST INDICATION OF A DEFECT OF "DUKES" PUMP (20), IT WILL BE MANDATORILY REPLACED WITH A "WELDON" PUMP. FOR THIS, APPLY INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED BY SERVICE BULLETIN Nr 47 AT LATEST REVISION.
1) Slightly lubricate new 0-rings (3) and (10) with grease (TB 04-903) and install them on elbow unions (1) and (13).
2) Install elbow unions (1) and (13) on pump (20) - refer to 20-00-06.
