7) Secure the assembly with a new lockwasher (1) and nut (2).
8) Immobilize pulley (3).

ALTERNATOR
REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
1. REMOVAL OF THE ALTERNATOR (Figure 401)
A. Tools and consumable materials
None
B. Procedure
WARNING : PRIOR TO ANY OPERATION, ENSURE THAT THE ENGINE, EXHAUST PIPE AND MANIFOLDS ARE COLD. IF NOT, TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID SEVERE BURNS.
WARNING : PRIOR TO ANY OPERATION, ENSURE THAT THE KEY IS REMOVED FROM MAGNETO SELECTOR AND THAT "MAIN SWITCH" IS OFF.
IF AIRCRAFT IS EQUIPPED WITH DISCONNECT PLUG ON FIREWALL, DISCONNECT "MAGNETO DISCONNECT" PLUG AND CONNECT IT TO "GROUND MAGNETO FOR SERVICING" PLUG.
1) Remove the engine cowlings - refer to 71-10-01.
2) Mark and disconnect the wires from alternator (9) and noise filter (2), retain the nuts.
3) Cut off and discard the lockwire, remove bolt (11) and washer (12).
4) Loosen nut of pulley (1) and direct pulley to loosen belt (10).
5) Remove and discard cotter pin (7), remove nut (6) and washer (5).
6) Hold alternator (9), mark their position and remove bolt (3) and washer(s) (4) (if installed).
7) Clear alternator (9) from belt (10) and place alternator on a work bench.
8) If necessary, remove the pulley and the fan - refer to Paragraph 3.
