B. Procedure WARNING : PRIOR TO ANY OPERATION, ENSURE THAT THE ENGINE, EXHAUST PIPE AND MANIFOLDS ARE COLD. IF NOT, TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID SEVERE BURNS. WARNING : PRIOR TO ANY OPERATION, ENSURE THAT THE KEY IS REMOVED FROM MAGNETO SELECTOR AND THAT "MAIN SWITCH" IS OFF. IF AIRCRAFT IS EQUIPPED WITH DISCONNECT PLUG ON FIREWALL, DISCONNECT "MAGNETO DISCONNECT" PLUG AND CONNECT IT TO "GROUND MAGNETO FOR SERVICING" PLUG. 1) Unscrew 1/4 turn fasteners (2) and remove upper cowling (1). 2) If installed, connect "Magneto disconnect" plug to "Ground magneto for servicing" plug. 3) Position the constant speed propeller pitch control to the rear position. With vapor cycle cooling system 4) Remove screws (11) and compressor cowling (9). NOTE : Make sure cup washers (10) are bonded to the compressor cowling ; if necessary, bond them using adhesive (TB 08-936). All 5) Remove screws (4), cup washers (5) and lower cowling (3). 2. INSTALLATION OF ENGINE COWLINGS (Figures 401 et 401A) A. Tools and consumable materials None B. Procedure CAUTION : EVERY FIVE REMOVALS OF THE LOWER ENGINE COWLING, INSTALL NEW SCREWS (4). NOTE : If a new lower cowling is installed, check compliance of the clearance between the cowling and the nose landing gear door - refer to 32-20-07. 1) Check the condition of the cowlings, centering pins (7), centering bushes (8), 1/4 turn fasteners (2) and receptacles (6). 2) Install lower cowling (3) and secure it with screws (4) and cup washers (5). 3) Check the correct engagement of the air intakes on the exhaust - exchanger and on the air intake box. ACM Validity : S / N 1 - 9999 Page 401 71-10-01 (DA) JUN 02 With vapor cycle cooling system 4) Using screws (11), install compressor cowling (9) equipped with cup washers (10). All 5) Make sure the seals of the side and front bulkheads lie flat against lower cowling (3). 6) Make sure all the tools and materials are removed and the work area is clean and free from debris. 7) If installed, reconnect "Magneto disconnect" plug. 8) Install upper cowling (1) by engaging centering pins (7) into centering bushes (8). 9) Lock 1/4 turn fasteners (2). 10) Measure the clearance between the propeller spinner and the cowling. This clearance must be 0.5 in ± 0.157 in (13 mm ± 4 mm) with a maximum misalignment of 0.157 in (4 mm).
