PROPELLER DEICING
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
1. GENERAL
The propeller deicing system is a means of protection for the propeller blades in case of unforeseen icing
conditions.
The system consists of :
- the tank,
- the pump,
- the propeller special rear flange,
- the ring and propeller nozzles,
- the tube and hose,
- the control panel.
2. LOCATION (Figure 1)

3. DESCRIPTION
A. Tank
The 0.53 US Gal (2 I) tank is attached to the engine mount, inside of engine cowling, on upper L.H. side. Inspection door 123 allows to fill it.
B. Pump
A pump is installed on the tank. It supplies fluid to the propeller at about 68.95 Kpa (10 psi). A hose connected to a tube is used between the tank and the ring nozzle.
C. Propeller special rear flange
The propeller rear flange is equipped with a ring which receives and distributes deicing fluid through propeller nozzles.
D. Ring and propeller nozzles
The ring nozzle, attached to the powerplant, is supplied by a tube and distributes deicing fluid to the propeller rear flange ring.

The propeller nozzles, attached to the rear flange and/or hub diffuse deicing fluid on each propeller blade shank.
E. Tube and hose
A hose connects the tank to the tube which routes along powerplant up to ring nozzle.
F. Control panel
The system control panel is located on R.H. side of the lower panel strip on pilot's side. It consists of :
14-volt aircraft
- a three-position switch :
LO = low flow (maximum endurance : approximately 2 hr 10),
OFF = stop,
HI = high flow (maximum endurance : approximately 1 hr 35),
- a yellow warning light, on R.H. side of the switch, which flashes when the system operates.
A fuse, located on PL1 circuit breaker panel or on inspection door 212L (fuse printed circuit) protects the circuit.
28-volt aircraft
- a three-position switch :
LO = low flow (maximum endurance : approximately 2 hr 10),
OFF = stop,
HI = high flow (maximum endurance : approximately 1 hr 35),
- an "ON" green indicator light, on L.H. side of the switch, which flashes when the system operates,
