Porous panels are attached to the wing and stabilizer leading edges. When the system is functioning, these panels exude fluid at a low steady rate. At the same time, a metered quantity of fluid is pumped via a slinger ring to the propeller blades. The windshield pump has a second function which is to prime the airframe / propeller pump. When the windshield pump is operated the solenoid valve in series with this pump opens and fluid (and air if present) is drawn from the tank through the airframe / propeller pump.
