1. DEICING FLUID
A. Operating instructions
CAUTION : UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE FLUIDS OTHER THAN THOSE LISTED BELOW TO BE USED IN THE "T.K.S." SYSTEM.
AS THE DEICING FLUID IS PARTICULARLY CORROSIVE, EVERY TEST ON GROUND, ENGINE STOPPED, WILL BE FOLLOWED BY A CAREFUL WASHING OF PAINTED SURFACES WHICH HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE PRODUCT.
Deicing fluids (TB 10-902) must meet one of the following specifications : TKS R328 ; TKS 80 ; AL-5 (DTD 406B).
In this case, they may be mixed in the aircraft tank in any proportions.

PROPELLER DEICING INSPECTION / CHECK
1. CHECK OF PROPELLER DEICING SYSTEM (Figure 601)
NOTE : This procedure is applicable to aircraft equipped with propeller deicing option. Nevertheless, it is applicable to aircraft equipped with ice protection option, except tank (4) and pump (3).
A. Tools and consumable materials
- Deicing fluid (TB 10-902)
- Anti-seize product (TB 05-901A)
B. Procedure
1) Install the warning sign prohibiting main switch-breaker operation.

2) Remove the engine cowlings - refer to 71-10-01.
3) Remove propeller spinner - refer to 61-10-00.
4) Check deicing rubber strips (1) for cleanliness and bonding.
NOTE : No debond, even small, is tolerated ; if required, repair the debonded part - refer to page 801 for two-blade propeller. For three-blade propeller, contact propeller manufacturer.
5) Check propeller nozzles (2) for condition and attachment.
6) Check propeller nozzles (2) for gap and position with regards to deicing rubber strip (1) - see Detail A :
gap between 0.08 and 0.12 in (2 and 3 mm) between propeller nozzle (2) edge and deicing rubber strip (1) surface,
- alignment of propeller nozzle (2) end with second groove of deicing rubber strip (1), forwards from strip centerline.
7) Check propeller nozzle (2) rear flange (8) stringers for tightening and condition.
8) Check for cracks and distorsions on rear flange (8) ring.
9) Check gap between :
- ring nozzle (7) and rear flange (8) ring : 0.2 in (5 mm),
- ring nozzle (7) and starter ring : 0.4 in (10 mm).
10) Check safetying between nuts of ring nozzle (7) and tube (6).
11) Check attachment of tube (6) on powerplant and its routing without any contact up to L.H. rear bulkhead.

12) Check, on L.H. rear bulkhead, safetying between nuts of tube (6) and hose (5). With ice protection
13) Check tightening of hose (5) on firewall union.
