When the control lever is forward, air at outside temperature is guided through the air filter to the injection pump.
When the control lever is rearward, heated air coming from the exchanger mixed with air at outside temperature is directly guided to the injection pump.

THROTTLE CONTROL
REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
1. REMOVAL OF THE THROTTLE CONTROL (Figure 401)
A. Tools and consumable materials
None
B. Procedure
WARNING : PRIOR TO ANY OPERATION, ENSURE THAT THE ENGINE, EXHAUST PIPE AND MANIFOLDS ARE COLD. IF NOT, TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID SEVERE BURNS.
WARNING : PRIOR TO ANY OPERATION, ENSURE THAT THE KEY IS REMOVED FROM MAGNETO SELECTOR AND THAT "MAIN SWITCH" IS OFF.
IF AIRCRAFT IS EQUIPPED WITH DISCONNECT PLUG ON FIREWALL, DISCONNECT "MAGNETO DISCONNECT" PLUG AND CONNECT IT TO "GROUND MAGNETO FOR SERVICING" PLUG.
1) Remove the engine cowlings - refer to 71-10-01.
2) Remove the central control pedestal - refer to 25-14-00.
3) Remove and discard cotter pin (34), retain washer (33) and clevis pin (32). Then disengage fork end (31) from control lever (35).
4) Remove fork end (31) and jam nut (30).
5) Remove nut (28) and discard lockwasher (27).
6) Remove and discard cotter pin (11), remove nut (10), washer (9), washer (8) and clevis pin (7).
7) Remove swivel rod end (4) and jam nut (5).
8) Cut off and discard lockwire then, remove nut (12).
9) Remove the inspection door 235R to gain access to clamp (23) - refer to 06-30-00.
10) Remove and discard nut (22), remove washer (21), bolt (20) and clamp (23).
11) Remove the inspection door 211 L to gain access to clamp (19) - refer to 06-30-00.
12) Remove and discard blind rivet (18) — refer to 51-40-02, then retain washer (17) and clamp (19). NOTE : Set control wheels to nose down attitude.
13) Remove sealant (16) from grommet (15).
14) Mark control (29) routing then cut off and discard the tie-wraps that attach it.
