The throttle control is actuated using a control lever (wide, black button) located on the cockpit central pedestal.
It transmits movement to the injection pump through a flexible sheathed cable and an articulated lever on the injection pump.
This control has two main positions :
- idle : lever rearward,
- full throttle : lever forward.
The maneuver range between these two positions allows engine rotation speed to be adjusted.
The control lever actuates the landing gear warning microswitch at approximately 0.47 in (12 mm) from its rear stop.
With vapor cycle cooling system
The control lever actuates S200 microswitch which shuts the compressor off when the control lever reaches 95% of its travel forward.
B. Mixture control
The mixture control is actuated using a control lever (red, detented knob) located on cockpit central pedestal.

It transmits movement to the injection pump through a flexible sheathed cable and an articulated lever on the injection pump.
The mixture control has two main positions :
- idle cut off : lever rearward,
- full rich : lever forward.
The maneuver range between these two positions allows lean or rich mixture to be obtained.
C. Pedestal controls
All the control levers are secured to cockpit central pedestal by an axle fitted with a device which controls the amount of braking force applied to the controls.
A locking knob located on the R.H. side of the pedestal adjusts the amount of braking force applied to the controls.
D. Alternate Air control
The Alternate Air control is actuated using a pull knob (grey, square knob) located on the right under the cockpit L.H. panel strip.
It transmits movement to the air inlet flap on the air inlet box through a flexible sheathed cable and a flap lever.
This control has two main positions :
- flap open (full hot) : pull knob rearward,
- flap closed (full cold) : pull knob forward.
4. OPERATION
A. Throttle control
If the throttle control is pushed forward, the throttle valve opens and manifold pressure increases. If the throttle control is pulled rearward, the throttle valve closes and manifold pressure decreases.
B. Mixture control
When the mixture control is pushed forward, the fuel quantity in air / fuel mixture is to the maximum. When the mixture control is pulled rearward, the fuel inlet is shut off and the engine shuts down.
C. Pedestal controls
The purpose of the locking knob is to allow the operator to select the proper amount of braking force in order to prevent the control levers from moving during flight. Tighten the locking knob to increase the tension and loosen to decrease the tension.
D. Alternate Air control
The aim of this control is to open the air inlet flap in order to allow the air to enter the injection pump if, for whatever reason (dust, ice), the inlet filter should become clogged.
