(DA) SEP 02 1) Remove the blanking caps. 2) Remove plastex or loctite from cooler (1) ports. Rinse the latter with cleaning agent (TB 11-003) and dry it. 3) Position cooler on engine bulkhead (10) and secure it with the four threaded rods (5), washers (6), spacers (9) and new nuts (4). 4) If removed, install elbows (2). a) Clean and degrease elbows (2) and coat the thread with loctite (TB 09-906). b) Position elbows (2) on cooler (1), hand-tighten up to contact. c) Hold ends (8) using a thin spanner and tighten elbows (2). NOTE : The elbows (2) are directed horizontally. 5) Hold elbows (2) using a thin spanner to avoid any distortion of cooler (1) fins - see Details A and B, when tightening hoses (3) and (7) on elbows. Torque - refer to 20-00-01. 6) Mark ends (8), elbows (2) and hoses (3) and (7) with a red paint line. 7) Install the engine cowlings - refer to 71-10-01. 8) Fill the oil system - refer to 12-12-01. 9) Check for leaks. 3. REMOVAL OF OPTIONAL OIL COOLER (Figure 401A) A. Tools and consumable materials - Blanking caps B. Procedure WARNING : PRIOR TO ANY OPERATION, ENSURE THAT THE ENGINE, EXHAUST PIPE AND MANIFOLDS ARE COLD. IF NOT, TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID SEVERE BURNS. WARNING : PRIOR TO ANY OPERATION, ENSURE THAT THE KEY IS REMOVED FROM MAGNETO SELECTOR AND THAT "MAIN SWITCH" IS OFF. IF AIRCRAFT IS EQUIPPED WITH DISCONNECT PLUG ON FIREWALL, DISCONNECT "MAGNETO DISCONNECT" PLUG AND CONNECT IT TO "GROUND MAGNETO FOR SERVICING" PLUG. 1) Remove the engine cowlings - refer to 71-10-01. 2) Drain the oil system - refer to 12-12-02. 3) Remove the standard oil cooler - refer to Paragraph 1. 4) Hold elbows (2) using a thin spanner, disconnect hose (7) and remove hose (3). Blank off. 5) Hold cooler (1) and remove four nuts (4), washers (6), spacers (9) and threaded rods (5). Discard nuts (4) 6) Remove cooler (1). 7) Hold ends (8) using a thin spanner to remove, if necessary, elbows (2) from oil cooler. Blank off.
