4) Attach the muffler with lower half-clamps (7), bolts (4), washers (5) and new nuts (6). Do not tighten. 5) Position muffler (8) casing limit at 1.77 in (45 mm) from upper half-clamp (3) - refer to Figure 402. 6) If removed, attach rod (39) to angle bracket (40) with bolt (36), washer (37) and new nut (38). Do not tighten. 7) If removed, attach clamp (23) to connection elbow (24) with bolt (45), washer (46) and new nut (47). Do not tighten. 8) Slide up to holes (41) connection elbow (24) on exhaust outlet tube (30), hose (22) on connection elbow (24), pipe (21) into muffler (8) and pipe (21) into hose (22). NOTE : Slide pipe (21) into muffler (8) on a length of 0.98 in (25 mm). 9) Attach connection elbow (24) on exhaust outlet tube (30), hose (22) on connection elbow (24) and on pipe (21) with clamps (25), bolts (31), washers (32) and new nuts (33). 10) Attach rod (39) to clamp (23) with bolt (42), washer (43) and new nut (44). 11) Tighten nuts (38) and (47). 12) Check the correct slide-in, slot completely covered, and attach muffler (8) to pipe (21) with bolt (54), washer (55) and new nut (56). 13) Make sure that there is a gap of 0.39 in (10 mm) between pipe (21) and firewall - refer to Figure 402, Detail A. 14) Tighten nuts (6) attaching clamps of muffler (8). 15) Position outlet tube (20) on muffler (8). Attach it with bolt (51), washer (52) and new nut (53). 16) Make sure all the tools and materials are removed and the work area is clean and free from debris. 17) Install the engine cowlings - refer to 71-10-01.
