MUFFLER
REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
1. REMOVAL OF THE MUFFLER (Figures 401, 402, 403 and 404)
A. Tools and consumable materials
None
B. Procedure
WARNING : PRIOR TO ANY OPERATION, ENSURE THAT THE ENGINE, EXHAUST PIPE AND MANIFOLDS ARE COLD. IF NOT, TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID SEVERE BURNS.
WARNING : PRIOR TO ANY OPERATION, ENSURE THAT THE KEY IS REMOVED FROM MAGNETO SELECTOR AND THAT "MAIN SWITCH" IS OFF.
1) Remove the engine cowlings - refer to 71-10-01.
2) Remove nut (56), washer (55) and bolt (54). Discard nut (56).
3) Remove nuts (6), washers (5), bolts (4) and lower half-clamps (7). Discard nuts (6).
4) Remove muffler (8).
5) Remove nut (53), washer (52) and bolt (51). Discard nut (53).
6) Remove outlet tube (20).
7) Remove nuts (33), washers (32), bolts (31) and clamps (25). Discard nuts (33).
8) Disconnect rod (39) from clamp (23). Retain bolt (42) and washer (43). Discard nut (44).
9) Disengage connection elbow (24) from exhaust outlet tube (30) and remove the pipe assembly.
10) Disengage pipe (21) and connection elbow (24) from hose (22).
11) Remove, if necessary, clamp (23) from connection elbow (24). Retain bolt (45) and washer (46). Discard nut (47).
12) Remove, if necessary, rod (39) from angle bracket (40). Retain bolt (36) and washer (37). Discard nut (38).
13) Remove, if necessary, upper half-clamps (3) and (12). Retain bolts (2) and washers (1).
14) Remove, if necessary, elastic studs (11). Retain washers (10). Discard nuts (9).
15) Remove, if necessary, the exhaust - refer to 78-00-00.

2. INSTALLATION OF THE MUFFLER (Figures 401, 402, 403 and 404)
A. Tools and consumable materials - Anti-seize product (TB 05-901)
B. Procedure
NOTE : Coat with anti-seize product (TB 05-901) bolt threads and interfaces of pipes, muffler and exhaust outlet tube.
1) If removed, install the exhaust - refer to 78-00-00.
2) If removed, position and attach elastic studs (11) to the upper half-clamps (3) and (12) with washers (10) and new nuts (9).
3) If removed, position and attach upper half-clamps (3) and (12) with washers (1) and bolts (2).
